WHAT WE OFFER
Orthotics are inserts for your shoes that custom are molded to your foot. Orthotics are designed to promote proper structure and alignment of the foot and leg. They re-distribute pressure through the foot to re-align structures. As a result, this helps decrease pain and improve the mechanics of your body. When structures are out of alignment it can lead to foot pain, knee pain and even back pain. Misalignment can also lead to many over-use injuries.
During your orthotic evaluation, we will look at your foot in both seated and standing positions. Similarly, we will take measurements of the foot and the ankle. We will look at your walking mechanics and look at how the foot changes as you walk and determine if an orthotic would be appropriate.
If appropriate, a plaster mold of your foot is made in our office by a certified pedorthotist. The molds are sent to a lab that we work hand in hand with to ensure that the orthotic is best designed for your foot. We will decide the best material to be used for your orthotics and we will decide what adjustments need to be made to best support your foot. Once we receive your orthotics, a follow up appointment is made where we go over wearing your orthotics and we also assess you while wearing them. We want to ensure that you are not only comfortable in your orthotics but that they are properly fitted to your foot. We also offer semi-customizable orthotics in the event that a fully customizable orthotic is not appropriate.
